Trillium Creek offers general dermatologic surgery, also called dermasurgery, as outpatient procedures to treat a wide range of skin conditions.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM GENERAL DERMATOLOGIC SURGERY
General dermatologic surgery procedures at Trillium Creek involve cutting out growths and benign tumors. We begin by using an injectable lidocaine solution that will numb the skin for approximately one hour. While the tissue is numb, our medical professionals will use a sharp scalpel to remove the growth.

After the growth or benign tumor is removed, there will be a visible opening in the skin which is then sutured (or stitched) together. Sutures placed deep in the tissue stabilize the site and encourage your body to fill in the area with new collagen. Deep tissue sutures are designed to be absorbed by your body and will disappear in approximately 4 weeks. Some procedures require that superficial, or visible, sutures be used on the surface of your skin. These sutures need to be taken out between 7-12 days after surgery, as they do not dissolve. Overall, it takes about 2 weeks for the site to heal.
